The SMERGY campaign is spread throughout Europe and involves eleven organisations in 7 European countries. These include: Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Sweden, Denmark. Co2online a nonprofit organisation from Germany coordinates the initiative.

The German non-profit company co2online has campaigned for energy efficiency and climate protection in Germany since 2003. Its purpose is to inform consumers on an individual basis about an energy-efficient lifestyle and to encourage them to take further action.

ALE Lyon – Agence Locale de l´Energie de l´Agglomération Lyonnaise

ALE Lyon is the Local Energy Agency of the Greater Lyon. It was created in 2000 to implement actions regarding energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and green buildings for all local stakeholders. It mainly works on awareness-raising and advices for citizen, local authorities and social housing companies.

Austrian Energy Agency

The Austrian Energy Agency is the national centre of excellence for energy. New technologies, renewable energy, and energy efficiency are the focal points of our scientific activities. We are an independent think tank that manages knowledge, provides the basis for well-founded decision making, and develops suggestions for the implementation of energy-related measures and projects.

BUNDjugend / Young Friends of the Earth Germany

BUNDjugend is the independent youth section of BUND (Friends of the Earth Germany) with  currently 58 000 members. With us children and young people under 27 years engage themselves in campaigns and projects for environmental and nature protection. Nationwide we fight for an agricultural turnround, climate justice, sustainable consumption and 100% renewable energy with creative actions.

CORE – Cooperative Entrepreneurship in Rational Energy Use

CORE is a independent cöoperation where the day to day work is done by master students in industrial engineering. CORE focuses on technical as well as educating and sensitising projects that are directly linked to sustainability and rational energy usage. We do this while working according to the guidelines of the cooperative ideology.

EC Network is an independent Danish consulting, research and communication company founded in April 2000. The mission of EC Network is to make a professional contribution to the dissemination of sustainable energy and environmental systems. The Company possesses expertise and experience to provide assistance at every stage of the process in energy and environmental projects. The core areas includes: Energy efficiency; renewable energy; strategic energy planning; communication and dissemination; capacity building.

Hochschule Fresenius (HSF, Fresenius University of Applied Sciences)

The Fresenius University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest and most re­nowned private educational institutions in Germany. With its parent house in Idstein, near Frankfurt, the University can proudly look back on over 160 years of scientific and academic expertise. Andreas Homburg is Professor of Economic Psychology at the HSF. His research interests include the understanding and regulation of environmentally relevant behavior (e.g. energy efficiency) in households, communities and organizations. In addition he is an expert in mentoring and the evaluation of pro-environmental campaigns.

Jongeren Milieu Actief / Vereniging Milieudefensie

JMA (Young Friends of the Earth Netherlands or YFoE NL) was founded in 1991 and is the youth environmental association of The Netherlands. JMA is run for and by youth between 12 and 28 years old. It is the youth organisation of Milieudefensie (Friends of the Earth Netherlands), but has its own board, policies and plans. Therefore, on grassroots campaigns, actions and activities can be decided by the board and members of JMA. With everything we do, we want to reach peers with positive messages and make them aware of the influence they have on politics, economy and the environment.

Senercon

Senercon was founded in 1992 with the aim to support private households to increase their energy efficiency and to save energy.  Since 2000 Senercon offers free web based energy advice to everyone. Senercon’s business model: free of charge computer/web based advice subsidized by municipalities and the government in order to make the knowledge about one's own energy consumption accessible to everybody.

Swedish Society for Nature Conservation – SSCN

SSNC is a charitable environmental organisation. We spread knowledge - including via own magazines and press material – we chart environmental threats, propose solutions, influence politicians and authorities, both nationally and internationally and organise seminars, debates and conferences. We have 203,000 members. Climate change, seas and fishing, forests, agriculture and environmental toxins are priority areas of work.
